My Great Lengths Hair Extensions experience and what I learned from it

Great Lengths Hair Extensions where the first real professional company to hit the scenes almost ten years ago. They had and still have a very unique sales and marketing system. Back in the day if you wanted hair extensions they were really the only way to get them.

It is funny to think how much money I paid for my Great Lengths Hair Extensions way back when.

It costs several thousands of dollars to get full head of Great Lengths Hair Extensions applied. The reason is that they charge an absurd amount for there so called special remi bonded Great Lengths Hair Extensions. If you wish to go to there site and buy some you will see you cannot. To be able to purchase they Great Lengths Hair Extensions at $120 per bundle and you need around 7 bundles to get a full head of Great Lengths Hair Extensions. Normally the hair dresser marks up the price another $80 per bundle so you are at $1400 just for the hair. Now comes the fun part.

I spent 7 hours getting my Great Lengths Hair Extensions applied!

7 hours of torture is more like it. I love my salon and my hair dresser but 7 hours of application is too much for me. The process is very time consuming and a bit painful as hair is pulled and the bond must be heated. Each bundles has like 25 of the little bonds and they must be applied one at a time for ever. The other painful price was the amount my stylist charged my for her time. I paid $2,000 and she said she gave me the friendship discount. After that I decide there needs to be a better way to get premium quality hair extensions for much less.

The hair extensions did not last as long as I would have liked. After about 2 months you could kind of see the difference between that Great Lengths Hair Extensions and my real hair. The challenge was that I did not have the money to take them out right then and definitely did not have the money to put new ones in. I decided to simply keep the Great Lengths Hair Extensions in for another 2 months until people started to make fun of me and then I paid another $300 and 4 more hours to have them removed.

All in all I loved the look and color of my Great Lengths Hair Extensions, but the cost and time necessary were ridiculous. Since then I found better hair extension methods than Great Lengths Hair Extensions like tape or seamless hair extensions which I love.

  1. I went to tons of great lengths hair extensions links before this, what was I thinking? This hair extensions review site is great, thanks so much.

  2. I have always been a fan of clip in hair extensions. The one’s you recommended from Simply Extensions are the best clip in extensions I have ever used.

  3. I guess it depends on where you get your great length hair extensions done. I’ve been getting them done for 9-10 years now, right after they came out. I’ve been going to the same stylist this whole time. I get 7 bundles 16 inches long and my stylist has me pay for the great length extensions about 10-14 days ahead of time so that she will have enough time to get them in before my appointment. When I first started getting them I was paying around $500 for 7 bundles 16 inches long and that included shipping! The price of hair has went up in the last several years….it’s now $600 for my hair and my stylist charges $50 a bundle to put them in, which comes to $350 for my 7 bundles! I pay $30 to have them removed. That’s $980, not including her tip! It takes her 2-3 hours to put in 7 bundles! She’s also a perfectionist and does a great job! She stays very busy, you have to get make your appointment 2-3 weeks in advance.

Also, my extensions stay in for 7 months before I remove them and get a new set. This last time I left them in for 8 months! 8 months was a little long though, my hair started to get a little matted.

    • Lacy,

Thank you so much for you very extensive and honest great length hair extensions reviews. I personally have used them a few times and have never had them last that long. You must have amazing hair and take great care in maiming them last. I too did my best especially paying over $1000 for great lengths hair extensions that lasted me only 3 months and yes they started to get clumpy. It my have been my hair stylist but when removing the bundles i lost some hair with them which I fear if someone uses hair extensions consistently.

Lastly, I say we are in 2012 and every $100 counts at least it does to most of us and I see no superior quality to great lengths and socap. I hear that Great lengths hair extensions is in fact coming up with a seamless hair extensions model to copy Simplyextensions and lower the price becuase the market has changed and the truth about the great lengths has been exposed. Hair is hair, it is not greater from one city or another and bonded hair extensions or cold fusion or whatever you want to call them are an old technology. New hair extensions will come out and they will be affordable,

      Claudia,
